1935 AD to 1940 AD: This is the only time the US has gone this long without warring.



1539 AD, May: Estevan of the Friar Marcos de Niza expedition was killed by inhabitants of "Cibola."
 
1540 AD to 1542 AD: Hernando de Soto traversed what is now the US southeast.
~ North America: Colorado River delta explored by Melding(?) Diaz upward from the mouth. Diaz also looks into what is now the Imperial Valley area of California.
~ Portugal dominated European trade with the Orient. Portugal moved into what had been Arab commercial centers.
 
 
1541 AD: Henry the VII of England was proclaimed king (rather than Feudal lord) of Ireland.(?)
~ Henry VIII declared himself king of Ireland.

1542 AD to 1542 AD: St. Francis Xavier brought Christianity to Asia.
~ October 9th to 13th, NA: Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, the Portuguese navigator, sailing under the flag of Spain, sailed along the coast of what is now Ventura, California. In this same year he discovered the bay of San Pedro. Along the curve of the bay he found an important Indian village, named(?)Pubrignor?
Cabrillo also landed on the Santa Barbara channel. He was probably a Portuguese navigator in the service of spain. This same year he discovered San Diego Bay.

1545 AD to 63 AD: The Council of Trent gives Catholics a greater sense of purpose. 

1547 AD: Henry VIII dies, succeeded by the boy king Edward VI. England and Ireland were ruled by senior nobility of England.
~ Ivan the IV, Ivan the Terrible, was crowned Czar of all the Russias.

1548 AD to 1614: El Greco, painter.
 
1550 AD to 1850 AD: The Little Ice Age. It was not a real Ice age, but it was a cold period strongly felt by persons of the North Atlantic area.
~ Ireland: Wolves were well known in the country up to about this time.
~ to 1568 AD, Poland:  Life of Saint Stanislaus Kostka. Born to a powerful and aristocratic family in Poland. At age 14 he and his brother were sent to to a Jesuit college in Vienna. (Walked 350 miles to Rome in order to ask permission from Francis Borgia, Father General.........


1552 AD: Gregorian calendar replaced the Julian Calendar.


1553 AD: England: Mary ascends the Throne.



1556 AD, China: An earthquake in Shensi province in central China left 830,000 dead and the largest loss of life due to earthquake in history to date.






1558 to 1603 AD: The plantation of Ireland began under the reign of Elizabeth I of England. Sounds sweeter than it was. It was taking land from Irishmen and "planting" on that land British subjects mostly Scot and Northern English. It was the English solution for their Irish problem, economic murder contributing to mass starvation.

~ to 1601 AD: In the reign of Elizabeth I, a system of counties was adopted.
~ Caribbean: before this date, and after 1492, of the about 60,000 Taino people about 500 Taino people remained.
 
 




1561 AD: In Nuremberg, Germany a celestial event appeared as strong, easily seen markings on the Sun.
~ Some ball like markings seem to fall from the Sun to the Earth where fires were so caused.


1564 AD to 1642 AD, Feb 2nd: Lifespan of Galileo, Galilei. He was born in Pisa and died in Floreco in Jan. He worked in practical physics and applied Math. Had a reputation for honesty.
~ to about 1616 AD: Birth of William Shakespeare.
~ Mexico: Fray Diego de Landa was recalled to Spain to face charges that he had overstepped his authority in the investigation and torture of native lords and commoners. It was after this time that he wrote his Account of  Affairs of Yucatan near this time.

1565 AD: 1,200 Huguenots slain at the massacre of Vassy. The first war of religion begins in France.


1566 AD: In Basel, Switzerland a  celestial event included easily seen, remarkable markings on the Sun.
~ Calvinist riots in the Netherlands.
~ USA: Foundation of Santa Elena, the 16th century capital of Spanish Florida by Pedro Menendez de Aviles on what is now Parris Island, off the coast of South Carolina. 

1967 AD, Netherlands: the Duke of Alba arrives in the Netherlands and began the reign of terror as military governor. 

1570 AD: By this time Spanish Americans were settling in the Argentinian pampa. 

~Calvinist Lutherans and Moravian Brothers ally against Jesuits in the Consensus of Sendomir(?)

~ Peace of Saint Germain-en-Laye(?) gives Amnesty to the Huguenots, ending the third war of Religion in France.



1572 AD, France: Massacre on St. Bartholomeus Day in Paris: 2,000 Huguenots murderer.


1573 AD, China: Wan Li became Emperor.

 

1574 AD to 1637 AD: Is the probable life span of the Englishman Robert Fludd. He probably used the pen-name Robertus Fluctus. The work, "Philosophia Moysaica" published after his death was probably his. Has been said to be a Rosicrucian, not a Rosicrucian, but  rather  Qabalist, an inventor, a Paracelsian physicist, a physician..

1777 AD: American Revolutionary War continues.
~ Chickamauga Wars in America continue.
~ Second Cherokee War in America.
~ Pennamite-Yankee War in America Continued.

1738 AD: Nancy Ward born Nanye'hi in the Overhill Cherokee capital of Chota.

1740 AD: The forgotten famine in Ireland.

1755 AD: Nancy Ward and her husband fought in the Taliwa war against the Creek. Her husband was killed and she fought on. The Cherokee won. Nancy ward was awarded the position of Warrior Woman which gave here some influence in tribal affairs.

1775 AD: American War of Independence foments Irish Unrest.
~ Ireland: Henry Gratten, becomes leader of "Patriot Party."
~ Daniel O'Connell born at Derrynane, Co Kerry, Ireland. Received early schooling from Parish Priest, then sent to France to receive further instruction at St. Omer and Douni.

1776 AD: American Revolutionary War.
~ Chickamauga War in America.
~ Cherokee War in America.
~ Pennamite- Yankee War in Pennsylvania to 1815?.
